The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, if he will place in the House of Commons Library a copy of the (a) terms of reference and (b) responsibilities of the Cabinet Office’s Propriety and Ethics Team.

The Propriety and Ethics Directorate is part of the Propriety and Constitution Group in the Cabinet Office.

Its responsibilities include providing advice to the Prime Minister and Cabinet Secretary on maintaining the highest standards of propriety and ethics across all government departments, advising departments on propriety and ethics issues, supporting the Independent Adviser on Ministers’ Interests, providing advice on the policy landscape for standards and ethics, and oversight of the public appointments process, inquiries and reviews. The directorate also includes a central Human Resources function for special advisers.
