Homelessness: Taxis

Asked by Jim ShannonDemocratic Unionist PartyMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 12 February 2025UIN 28477

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, how much her Department has spent on taxi expenses for homeless people in the last 12 months.

Answered by Rushanara Ali

The Homelessness Prevention Grant (HPG) is allocated to councils across England based on local homelessness pressures and is used to meet local needs.

HPG funding allocations for the period 2023 through 2025 are available online and can be accessed via the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/homelessness-prevention-grant-2023-to-2025

Local authorities can use their funding flexibly to support homeless households. MHCLG does not hold any data on the proportion of funding that was allocated to taxi expenses.
