To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what steps her Department is taking to help ensure that police forces effectively allocate resources to help tackle speeding in rural communities.

The 2025-26 final police funding settlement provides funding of up to £19.6 billion for the policing system in England and Wales. This is an overall increase of up to £1.2 billion when compared to the 2024-25 settlement.
How the police allocate their resources is a matter for individual Chief Constables, taking into account any specific local problems and demands.
Enforcement of motoring offences and deployment of officers in West Dorset is an operational matter for Dorset Police’s Chief Constable to determine in line with local policing plans, in conjunction with the local Police and Crime Commissioner.
Excess speed is a major cause of death and serious injury on our roads and anyone who breaks the speed limit should expect to face the full force of the law.
