Hospitality Industry: Alcoholic Drinks
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the Answer of 28 April 2025 to Question 46271 on Hospitality Industry: Licensing, what assessment her Department has made of the potential impact of the introduction of alcohol licensing fees on licensed (a) pubs and (b) restaurants that want to operate pavement licences.
Answered by Dame Diana Johnson
I refer the Hon Member to the Written Ministerial Statement I made to the House on 27 February.
In addition, he will be aware that in early April the Department for Business and Trade announced a licensing policy taskforce to explore and evaluate options to create a licensing system that better supports business growth while ensuring public safety and community interests remain adequately protected under the Government’s Safer Streets Mission.
The Home Office is playing an active role in that taskforce, further details of which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/licensing-policy-taskforce/terms-of-reference-and-taskforce-member-list
