Community First Responders
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking to increase the number of community first responders within the ambulance service.
Answered by Karin Smyth
The Government recognises the important contribution of Community First Responder (CFR) volunteers who generously donate their time to support ambulance services and patients across the country.
CFRs are recruited and trained directly by ambulance trusts. Trusts are responsible, on an individual basis, for taking decisions on the capacity and support needed to deliver their services.
