Asked by Ben MaguireLiberal DemocratMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 9 June 2025UIN 55659

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, if her Department will make an assessment of the potential impact of low housing stock on young families in (a) North Cornwall and (b) other rural areas.

Answered by Matthew Pennycook

The government recognises the impact of low housing stock on young families in North Cornwall and other rural areas.

We are taking decisive action to boost the supply of homes of all tenures and are giving further consideration to what more we can do to promote rural affordable housing and support local authorities to respond to the pressures caused by excessive concentrations of short-term lets and second homes.
