Hate Crime: Internet
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many arrests were made for online speech offences in the last five years.
Answered by Sarah Jones
The Home Office does not hold the information requested.
The Home Office collects and publishes data on arrests as part of the ‘Police Powers and Procedures’ statistical series. The latest data is available here: Stop and search, arrests and mental health detentions, March 2024 - GOV.UK
However, the data is collected by wider offence group e.g. “Public order offences”, and information on specific offences is not held.
