Leasehold: Fees and Charges

Asked by Mr Joshua ReynoldsLiberal DemocratMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 26 May 2026UIN 1053

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what assessment he has made of the potential impact of the lease extension premium formula on leaseholders with short leases; and whether he plans to bring forward proposals to reform the reversion value calculation under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993.

Answered by Matthew Pennycook

The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 Impact Assessment assessed the changes to enfranchisement premiums and included analysis on the distribution of leases by length. It can be viewed online here.

I otherwise refer the hon. Member to the answer given to Question UIN 103549 on 14 January 2026 and the King's Speech 2026 background briefing notes which can be found on gov.uk here.
