The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps she is taking to support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities into farming.

The Government recognises the importance of attracting young people into farming. Building on the Post-16 Education and Skills White Paper, Defra is developing a workforce strategy to equip people with skills for thriving careers in agriculture. This includes modernising learning opportunities for young people including apprenticeships and T-Levels to reflect future growth such as agri-tech.
T-levels can provide valuable workplace experience for students with special educational needs and disabilities. Support is tailored to the individual student through discussions between the school or college and the workplace, and can include a supported internship programme to support young people with education, health and care plans into employment.
