Clinical Psychologists: Training
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what is the total cost per NHS funded trainee studying a taught doctorate programme for Clinical Psychologists over their university career.
Answered by Karin Smyth
NHS England commissions taught doctorate programmes for clinical psychologists. NHS England pays for a contribution towards clinical placement costs as set out in the Education and Training Tariff guidance, 100% of salary support at Agenda for Change Band 6, tuition fees, and a contribution towards travel and accommodation costs incurred when attending placements. This is set out in the published NHS Education Funding Guide.
NHS England does not publish a single total cost per trainee as payments vary between trainees, for example, depending on their geographical location.
