NHS: Complaints

Asked by James McMurdockIndependentDepartment of Health and Social CareTabled Answered 28 May 2026UIN 1633

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what recent assessment he has made of the level of NHS staff confidence that concerns raised by patients are acted on within NHS organisations.

Answered by Preet Kaur Gill

The NHS Staff Survey 2025 showed that 69% of staff agree that their organisation acts on concerns raised by patients.

We know there is more to do. The 10-Year Health Plan confirmed our intention to reform the National Health Service complaints process, setting clear standards for both the timeliness and quality of responses, to ensure the NHS listens carefully and compassionately, so that where mistakes are made and concerns are raised, the NHS acts to take forward learnings to improve the quality of care.
