Asked by Alex BurghartConservativeCabinet OfficeTabled Answered 28 May 2026UIN 2043

The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, whether he has made an assessment of the potential implications for his policies of the findings of the Intelligence and Security Committee outlined in the Committee's press notice of 15 May 2026 on the use of WhatsApp within Government.

Answered by Nick Thomas-Symonds

As the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister said to the House on 19 May, the Government acknowledges the Intelligence and Security Committee’s concerns on this matter and has already shared with the ISC its plans and terms for an independent review of the use of unofficial or non-corporate communications channels in government.
