The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what plans he has to standardise design approaches for new and refurbished NHS buildings.

Local National Health Service organisations are responsible for managing their estates and strategic infrastructure planning, including acquiring and developing new facilities.
National guidance is provided to the NHS on how to best maintain their existing estate and deliver new infrastructure, which includes the use of standardised designs where appropriate. This guidance is available at the following link:

In addition, standardising design for future hospitals is a key part of the New Hospital Programme. The Programme’s standardised design, known as Hospital 2.0, is being developed with clinical and operational staff and will enable hospitals to be built more quickly while delivering modern, sustainable facilities that support high-quality patient care.
