The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking to work with estate and infrastructure experts on the planning and delivery of NHS facilities.
Answered by Karin Smyth
Local National Health Service organisations are responsible for managing their estates and strategic infrastructure planning and acquiring and developing new facilities. This includes engaging appropriate estates and infrastructure experts.
On a national level, the standardised approach underpinning the New Hospital Programme, Hospital 2.0, is being designed, developed and tested with professional and industry bodies, the supply chain, and regular wider industry engagement, alongside clinicians and patient and public representatives. The Programme’s appointment of a Health Delivery Partner also provides the expert technical capability to support delivery, including technical design support, commercial expertise and programme delivery capability.
