Charities: Business Rates
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether his department monitors if local authorities grant discretionary business rate relief for charities.
Answered by Alison McGovern
MHCLG collect and publish data from local authorities on how much discretionary business rates relief is granted to charities. Published data is available for local authority forecasts and local authority outturn. The latest data on discretionary relief granted to charities can be found here in the document labelled Tables 1-3: England. Table 2 contains the value of discretionary relief and Table 3 contains the number of hereditaments benefitting from the relief.
