Members: Security

Asked by Esther McVeyConservativeHome OfficeTabled Answered 27 May 2026UIN 2709

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether the Member for Ashton-under-Lyne receives Government funded security.

Answered by Dan Jarvis

The Home Office, Parliamentary Security Department (PSD) and the police work closely to ensure the safety and security of MPs in Westminster and in their constituencies.

PSD is responsible for providing security measures for Members of Parliament (MPs). These security measures are kept under review.

It is the Home Office’s long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on individual MPs’ security arrangements, as doing so could compromise the integrity and safety of individuals.
