Housing: Water Supply

Asked by Lee AndersonReform UKMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 1 June 2026UIN 2827

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what recent discussions he has had with water companies on water supply to new housing developments.

Answered by Matthew Pennycook

My Department engages regularly with water companies, regulators, and other partners to ensure water and wastewater infrastructure supports new housing development, with a particular focus on ensuring Water Resource Management Plans and water company investment programmes support the government’s housing delivery objectives.

Through our Water Delivery Taskforce, we are strengthening coordination with the sector to identify and resolve potential supply constraints early, improve data sharing, and support strategic solutions in areas of highest housing growth pressure.
