Buses: Carbon Emissions
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether businesses that re-power existing buses will be eligible for future government funding rounds for zero-emissions buses.

The Government is committed to supporting the full transition to zero-emission buses (ZEBs). In March, we announced up to £73.2m in additional funding to support the delivery of approximately 484 ZEBs across 10 projects in England, on top of £38 million announced last April.
The Government is supportive of bus repowering as a viable and sustainable option to help the transition to ZEBs in the UK. Although there are no plans for dedicated funding, we continue to drive demand for ZEBs with the recent announcement of £15.6 billion over five years to improve local transport in some of our largest city regions. Our smaller cities, towns and rural areas will also receive £2.3 billion from the Local Transport Grant. This allows local leaders to play a more active role in the delivery of local bus services and allocate some funding toward decarbonising their local fleets.
