To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps her Department is taking to maintain and protect curlews on the Lancashire coast.

Defra Group has supported Lancashire County Council in their Local Nature Recovery Strategy, which sets out nature recovery priorities and specific proposals for habitat creation and improvement that will support many species, including curlew.
Nationally, Agri-environment schemes provide funding and include actions for the management of key curlew habitats, including wet grasslands, hay meadows and moorlands. Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier also pays for additional support for threatened species that can fund tailored actions to benefit curlews such as later cutting dates in silage fields. Additionally, many of the Landscape Recovery projects currently in development aim to implement actions to support curlew.
