Electric Vehicles: Charging Points

Asked by Joe RobertsonConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 1 June 2026UIN 3134

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the Answer of 20 April 2026 to Question 127393, in which month does the Department expect to launch a targeted industry consultation on the public charging network.

Answered by Keir Mather

The Government is committed to decarbonising road transport. A visible, reliable charging network is essential for successful electric vehicle uptake.

We are continuing to work with industry to deliver the right financial support to improve electric vehicle charging for long journeys, targeted where it is needed most. For example, improving provision at some motorway service areas where high grid connection costs mean that charging infrastructure rollout is not commercially viable.

A targeted consultation to seek industry views on how to address this is planned for this summer.
