To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether it is her Department’s policy to prioritise the enforced removal of individuals who are care leavers formerly looked after by a local authority; and what mandatory safeguarding and best interests assessments are required prior to any decision to forcibly remove in such cases.

There is no policy that prioritises the enforced removal of individuals who are care leavers formerly looked after by a local authority.
Decisions on whether to remove people from the UK are made on a case-by-case basis and the safety and practicality of an enforced return is considered alongside all the particular circumstances of the person at that time. We only ever return those who the Home Office are satisfied do not need our protection and have no legal basis to remain in the UK.
