To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what recent consultations he has undertaken with the farming sector on UK-EU Sanitary and Phytosanitary negotiations.

This Government is currently negotiating a Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Agreement to make agrifood trade with its biggest market cheaper and easier, cutting costs and removing trade barriers for British producers and retailers.
This Government held a Call for Information to hear directly from UK farming sectors on what information they will need, when they will need it, and what support might be helpful. Defra officials and ministers are actively engaging with a wide range of industry representatives on this issue, and their expertise and insight have been invaluable in informing our approach to negotiations as we seek an agreement that benefits all parts of the UK.
