To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether the Government has considered extending support to coach operators and other commercial transport sectors affected by higher fuel costs.

The Government understands the importance of coach services to the economy and recognises the vital services they provide – such as getting children to school. My department is working to assess and understand the risks of higher fuel costs to local transport provision, including coaches.
On 20 May, the Government announced the extension of the 5p fuel duty cut from September until the end of the year. This will help coach operators, as well as other parts of the transport sector. My department will continue its active engagement with the sector to understand issues linked to higher fuel costs.
