To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the potential merits of including the provision of safe local cycling infrastructure as part of the Government's response to cost of living pressures.

While funding for cycling infrastructure was not expressly set out within the Chancellor’s statement to Parliament on 21 May concerning the cost of living, it is the case that active travel is one of the cheapest and most accessible forms of transport. That is why the Government is investing £626 million for local authorities from 2026-27 to 2029-30 to deliver walking, wheeling and cycling schemes. This is in addition to almost £300 million in funding announced in February 2025.
