Foreign Investment in UK: Northern Ireland

Asked by Mr Gregory CampbellDemocratic Unionist PartyTreasuryTabled Answered 2 June 2026UIN 3747

The question

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the Answer of 19 May to Question 1112, if she will hold discussions with the National Wealth Fund to establish what level of financial support can be made available to assist inward investment into rural areas of Northern Ireland.

Answered by Lucy Rigby

The National Wealth Fund (NWF) has a mandate to invest across the UK ensuring the benefits of its investments are felt in all four nations. It has a dedicated director based in Northern Ireland and opened a Belfast office in December 2024.

NWF works collaboratively with the Northern Ireland Executive, Invest Northern Ireland, the Investment Fund for Northern Ireland, and the Strategic Investment Board to identify investment opportunities in Northern Ireland.

As NWF is operationally independent, its investment activity reflects their policy objectives, return requirements, and the availability of investable proposals.
