The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether his Department monitors the number of newly qualified nurses who are unable to secure NHS nursing posts within six months of qualification.

Training places for nurses are not centrally commissioned by Government. Instead, they are determined by local employers and education providers who decide the number of learners they admit based on learner demand and provider capacity.
We are improving workforce planning to align job vacancies with the anticipated supply of graduating students. NHS England is actively monitoring future student numbers and using a student movement dashboard to enable regional NHS England teams, universities, and employers to understand where future vacancies will arise and signpost newly graduated students towards these roles. NHS England will also continue to assess the efficacy of the graduate guarantee as a mechanism to ensure that all future workforce supply matches demand.
