Sports: VAT

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeTreasuryTabled Answered 3 June 2026UIN 3975

The question

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what steps she is taking to ensure the VAT cut on summer activities will be passed onto consumers.

Answered by Dan Tomlinson

From 25 June to 1 September the Government is introducing a temporary reduced rate of VAT on children's menu meals and family leisure activities

HMRC has published guidance for businesses to operationalise the measures, and the Government expects participating businesses to pass savings on to families by lowering the prices people pay on eligible children's meals and tickets, so the VAT cut is reflected directly at the till.
