Empty Property: Fylde

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 8 June 2026UIN 3984

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what assessment he has made of the impact of his policies on the redevelopment of disused buildings in Kirkham in Fylde constituency.

Answered by Nesil Caliskan

The redevelopment of disused buildings is the responsibility of the relevant local authority. My Department will bring forward a high streets strategy to turn the tide on ailing high streets, with targeted support to places most in need. The Government is also taking targeted action to bring long-term vacant high street properties back into use through High Street Rental Auctions. These powers enable local authorities to auction the lease of long-term vacant commercial properties.
