Government Departments: Cost Effectiveness
The question
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with reference to the Answer of 27 April 2026 to Question 129014 on Government Departments: Cost Effectiveness, whether the efficiency savings are reported to HM Treasury by Departments before the publication of the annual report and accounts.
Answered by Lucy Rigby
The Government Efficiency Framework sets out how departments should monitor and report efficiency savings. Section 5 of the Framework sets out that departments are expected to have central data monitoring processes in place and report efficiencies to HM Treasury on a quarterly basis.
