Asked by Mike WoodConservativeDepartment for Environment, Food and Rural AffairsTabled Answered 4 June 2026UIN 4213

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, whether she has made an assessment of the potential impact of the Welsh Government's Deposit Return Scheme for glass on the UK Internal Market.

Answered by Mary Creagh

The UK Internal Market Act exclusion relating to glass bottles in scope of the Welsh Government’s Deposit Return Scheme was considered and agreed following the processes set out in the review of the UKIM Act published in 2025. The Government engaged extensively with industry and other stakeholders to carefully consider the impacts of divergence within the UK internal market.
