To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, with reference to the answer of 10 April 2026, to Question 121753, on Erasmus+ programme, whether affiliating to Erasmus+ will be subject to a vote in Parliament.

A decision of the Specialised Committee on Participation in Union Programmes under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement agreed by the previous government, amending Protocol I of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, finalised the UK’s association to Erasmus+ from 1 January 2027. The power to amend Protocol I to add new programmes is already delegated to this committee. We will need to agree specific terms for the 2028-2034 Multiannual Financial Framework in due course and once the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework legislation is finalised. Our immediate focus is to continue to work with institutions and our young people to maximise take-up across all sectors, so that the benefits of Erasmus+ association in 2027 can be fully realised.
