The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, whether the Cabinet Office uses appraisals as part of the recruitment process for promoting and hiring staff within the Civil Service.

Cabinet Office do not use appraisals as part of the recruitment process. We are committed to fair and open recruitment and use the Civil Service Success Profiles to assess candidates suitability for a role. Success Profiles are made up of five areas; behaviours, strengths, experience, ability and technical.
