The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the answer of 24 April 2026 to Question 127281 on Parking Offences: Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, what was the legal basis by which the trial of higher parking charges took place.

The Secretary of State authorised Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s request to depart from prescribed Penalty Charge Notice levels under powers conferred on the Secretary of State in paragraph 8(3) of Schedule 9 to the Traffic Management Act 2004.
