Police: Counter-terrorism
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of current counter-terrorism policing resources following the increase in the national threat level to severe.
Answered by Dan Jarvis
On 30 April 2026 the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre raised the UK national terrorism threat level to SEVERE, meaning that a terrorist attack is highly likely in the next six months.
Funding for Counter-Terrorism Policing increased this year (2026-27) to £1.2 billion. This supports approximately 800 live counter-terrorism policing investigations and allows us to respond swiftly and decisively to terrorist incidents, no matter where they take place.
