Prisons: Equality

Asked by Nick TimothyConservativeMinistry of JusticeTabled Answered 8 June 2026UIN 4471

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, if he will publish a list of events held by HM Prison and Probation Service in prisons to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the last year; and what the cost was of each of those events.

Answered by Jake Richards

The requested information is not collected centrally, and there are no plans to publish a list of events and costs.

Any external Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) expenditure is subject to the Civil Service Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Expenditure Guidance, which requires ministerial authorisation before such spending can take place.

Information on approved EDI expenditure is published as part of the Government’s transparency arrangements. The Cabinet Office publishes reported Civil Service external EDI expenditure, broken down by Government Department: Civil Service 2024/2025 External Expenditure on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - GOV.UK.
