Prisoners: Drugs

Asked by Nick TimothyConservativeMinistry of JusticeTabled Answered 8 June 2026UIN 4535

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many prisoners have failed a drug test in each of the past three years; and if he will provide a list of the substances tested positive for by prisoners in the last year.

Answered by Jake Richards

As centrally held data does not identify the number of individual prisoners testing positive and does not include all types of drug testing (for example tests carried out by the National Health Service), the information requested could not be obtained without incurring disproportionate cost.
