Financial Services and Innovation: Vocational Education
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps Skills England is taking to integrate (a) applied financial literacy and (b) technical innovation modules into Level 3 technical qualifications.
Answered by Josh MacAlister
The Curriculum and Assessment Review recommended ways to ensure financial literacy is incorporated into the curriculum throughout all key stages of education, including post-16 education. There are a range of financial education qualifications available for 16 to 19-year-old students. This includes qualifications and courses at levels 1 and 2 for lower attaining GCSE students to support their financial literacy.
Skills England is responsible for ensuring occupational standards continue to reflect skills needs. Skills England engage with sector experts, including employers, to identify and revise standards. The government is working with stakeholders to develop Skills Plans setting out proposals to address current and future skills needs within each priority sector.
V Levels and T Levels are linked to occupational standards. They will therefore be kept up to date as occupational standards are updated in line with the latest labour market and employer needs, including where there is innovation in a sector.
