Military Aircraft: Training

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 5 June 2026UIN 4893

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what is the full scope of the RAF’s Interim Medium Speed Operational Readiness Training Service contract.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The Interim Medium Speed Operational Readiness Training Service contract delivers training support to the front line using crewed airborne assets.  This allows essential training against simulated enemy systems, including electronic attacks and radar threats. It provides practice targets and support to training exercises by adding extra aircraft and effects.  It includes replicating the behaviour or threat of real drones during training exercises, without necessarily using actual operating drones, practising close air support missions, and providing realistic video and surveillance effects during exercises.
