Canada: Military Alliances

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 June 2026UIN 4924

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the fourth report of the Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy (CP1338), published on 24 June 2025, what progress he has made on improving the defence and security partnership with Canada.

Answered by Al Carns

As set out in the Joint Statement by the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and Canada on 15 June 2025, we are working to strengthen cooperation bilaterally, through NATO and the Five Eyes partnership, including to support Ukraine in its self-defence against Russia's war of aggression, and to position the Canada-UK defence relationship for further growth across military operations, industrial collaboration, and defence innovation.
