Dental Services: Contracts
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, when he plans to launch the public consultation on reform of the NHS dental contract.
Answered by Stephen Kinnock
The Government is committed to fundamental contract reform by the end of this Parliament. We will update on timelines for dental contract reform, including the details of the public consultation, in due course.
We have started to bring into force a package of reforms to address some of the most pressing issues that dentists and dental teams have been experiencing. Regulations introducing the first phase of these reforms came into force on 1 April, and the remainder of the reforms, including the introduction of complex care pathways, will be implemented from the end of June 2026. The reforms underpin the delivery of more urgent appointments every year, better support for patients with complex treatment needs, and incentivise the delivery of more preventative care.
