Armoured Fighting Vehicles: Procurement

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 5 June 2026UIN 5084

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether the Patria 6x6 CAVS variant procured by the Army will have amphibious capabilities.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The Army’s Heavy Protected Mobility Programme remains in its concept phase and is currently evaluating the Finnish led Common Armoured Vehicles System (CAVS) Programme’s Patria 6x6. As part of this, a breadth of capabilities will be considered, and on current plans this includes amphibious capabilities.

Investment approval and procurement timelines are yet to be determined and are subject to the Defence Investment Plan.
