Ukraine: Defence

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 8 June 2026UIN 5093

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the answer of 28 April 2025 to question 44679 on Ukraine: Defence, what new technology has emerged as an outcome via the work of Task Force HIRST.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The Secretary of State for Defence continues close engagement with Ukraine to deepen UK-Ukraine defence industrial cooperation. Through HIRST's Framework Arrangement and close collaboration with Task Force KINDRED, we are continually identifying opportunities to exploit UK and Ukrainian intellectual property and insights from Ukraine for both nations' benefit.

The UK has developed its uncrewed systems sector and low-cost air defence capabilities as a direct result of our understanding of requirements arising from our collaboration with Ukraine. With real-time data from the front line we are continuing to jointly develop new capabilities that Ukraine is exploiting to great effect.
