To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what discussions she has had with water companies on reducing water bills for households in West Dorset.

The Government recognises the pressures that water bills can place on households and continues to engage closely with water companies, Ofwat and consumer bodies to strengthen the consumer voice and support available. Ofwat’s Final Determinations for Price Review 2024, published in December 2024, set company expenditure and customer bill levels for 2025-2030 following independent scrutiny of company business plans. Ensuring bills are fair and proportionate is a core part of Ofwat’s assessment. All water companies have measures in place for people who struggle to pay for their water and wastewater services, including social tariffs, WaterSure, payment breaks and holidays, and debt management support. We expect companies to proactively engage with customers, so they are aware of the support available and how to access it.
