The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps South Western Railways have taken to complete planned infrastructure upgrades including West of England line resilience works, London Waterloo-Clapham Junction and Fareham-Havant and Portsmouth Harbour strengthening by March 2027.

South Western Railway and Network Rail Wessex are delivering a coordinated programme of works by March 2027. This includes track improvements in Portsmouth as well as the strengthening of Portcreek Viaduct, and commencement of the £120 million Havant resignalling scheme, due for completion in Easter 2028. Forthcoming West of England line works include signalling, and maintenance works between Andover and Gillingham, and track refurbishment from Basingstoke to Salisbury.
In the Waterloo to Clapham corridor, in December 2025 the replacement of the switches and crossing at Queenstown Road was completed.
