The planned disposal of Prince William of Gloucester Barracks Grantham and associated reprovision at Alexander Barracks Pirbright does not reduce Army Reserve training capacity. Co-location of Army Training at Pirbright delivers more efficient and flexible training. Future requirements and associated resourcing are routinely reviewed.
A delay to the disposal of Prince William of Gloucester Barracks from 2024 to 2028 was announced as part of the Future Soldier announcement in November 2021. The Gov.uk Disposal Database was updated in February 2024 to correct the disposal date to not before 2029. This has remained the case since, with the last Database refresh dated 21 August 2025 stating disposal from 2029.
