Prisons: Unmanned Air Systems
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what assessment he has made of the potential merits of equipping all sites across the prison estate with the a) CPM Wilson-Plus or b) CPM Watson-Plus drone jammers.
Answered by Jake Richards
HM Prison & Probation Service continues to adapt its counter-drone security measures to keep pace with the evolving threat. Its approach is multi-faceted, with a variety of countermeasures and intelligence tools to prevent drones from delivering contraband such as drugs, mobile telephones and weapons. This includes physical security, exploring technological developments, exploiting intelligence and strengthening legislation, as well as working across Government and with international partners on this global issue.
For security reasons, it would not be appropriate to share details of counter-drone tactics.
