Forests
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what plans her department has to support long-term certainty for productive woodland creation and management.
Answered by Mary Creagh
To strengthen resilience for the creation and management of our productive woodlands, we are supporting tree breeding, species diversification and innovation in tree planting. We also relaunched the Timber in Construction Roadmap in February 2025 with increased ambition that will stimulate softwood and hardwood planting to meet demand for timber construction. Alongside this, we are continuing to engage with the Confederation of Forest Industries on their National Wood Strategy and working with investors to explore how we can collectively break down barriers to grow the supply we need.
