The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the press release entitled Cost of living boost with free bus travel for children and targeted food tariff cuts, published on 20 May 2026, what estimate she has made of the number of additional passenger journeys from that scheme.

The Department expects the scheme to increase bus use among children and those who travel with them during August. While this is likely to result in additional journeys, the scale of any increase will depend on how passengers respond. This will be assessed following conclusion of the scheme.
