Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for EducationTabled Answered 16 June 2026UIN 5769

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, If he will make it his policy to ban meat products from all schools and educational settings which have been produced using non-stunned slaughter.

Answered by Olivia Bailey

The government encourages the highest standards of animal welfare at slaughter and would prefer all animals to be stunned before slaughter, but we respect the rights of people to eat meat prepared in accordance with their religious beliefs. All school food must meet minimum UK animal welfare standards.
