Regeneration: Finance
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, with reference to his Department’s press release entitled Neighbourhood Guarantee to improve villages, towns and cities, published on 20 May 2026, what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of previous town regeneration funding programmes.
Answered by Nesil Caliskan
The Neighbourhood Guarantee is a commitment that central and local government will work together to improve how places look and feel so that no matter where you live you can expect the same basic foundation – clean streets, decent roads, places to meet, and public services that local people can depend on.
The Guarantee is England-wide and brings together existing government investment and reform programmes into a clearer, more transparent framework for what residents can expect, using existing funding arrangements which are targeted according to government priorities and local need.
